SMASH Baseball Swing Analyzer – How it works

How does the SMASH Baseball Swing Analyzer work?

Using a 3-axis Gyroscope and a 3-axis Accelerometer, the system accurately measures a hitters Swing Speed, Time to Impact, Impact Angle and Bat Path Angle. The hitter can also view metrics with “On-Deck” swings (swings without ball impact).

What makes SMASH better than other swing analyzers?

SMASH Baseball uses simple, easy to understand metrics that can quickly be analyzed using video and/or 3D simulation to clearly identify weaknesses and turn them into strengths.

How accurate is the SMASH swing analyzer?

SMASH Baseball Analyzer is extremely accurate. Testing shows accuracy within 2 degrees on Bat Path Angle and Impact Angle and within 3 mph of swing speed.

Do I need to pair my sensor each time I play?

No. The sensor can hold up to 3000 swings, without being connected to the app. When you open and connect the app, you will be notified that you have swings to download from the sensor.

How do I charge my sensor?

Each sensor comes with a USB charging cable. The app will show how much power the sensor has remaining. The three lights will be flashing quickly when the sensor is charging properly, and all three will be on at the same time when it is fully charged. This should take approximately 90 minutes.

How do I turn the sensor on or off?

Shake the device to turn the power on. After a 10-minute period of no use, the sensor will turn off automatically. You can also turn it off manually by selecting “power off” on the device control panel in the app.

What are the indicator lights on the sensor?

There are three indicator lights on the sensor. When all three lights are flashing, one by one, this means they are powered on but disconnected.

When the sensor is plugged in and all three lights are flashing at the same time, the sensor is fully charged. 

When one indicator is flashing, this means the battery is low (less than 15%).

The three lights will be flashing quickly when the sensor is charging properly, and all three will on at the same time when it is fully charged.

When all three indicator lights are on and not flashing, and the sensor is not plugged into the charging cable, the sensor is updating firmware.

Will the sensor fit on all bats (Baseball & Softball)?

The sensor’s silicone attachment sleeve will fit on the vast majority of baseball and softball bats in the market today.

How do I switch bats?

When you want to use another bat, simply secure the sensor on the new bat’s knob, then go to your profile and insert the new bats material (wood, metal, other), weight and height; select that bat for use and swing away!

How secure is my SMASH sensor when attached to my bat?

If you secure the sensor as properly instructed with the silicon sleeve, it should not come off and will remain secure for all swings.

How does the video aspect work?

Video capture and playback will default to “landscape” or horizontal augmentation. The resolution and frame rate of the video will be subject to device camera capabilities.

Does the sensor work for left handed players?

Yes, the sensor and app read for both left handed and right handed swings (be sure to indicate left or right handed during user profile creation).

Dose it work for Softball?

Yes, it is an effective training tool for baseball and softball.

Can I use sensor with multiple devices?

Yes, the sensor can connect to multiple devices.

Can I delete my swings?

Yes, videos captured with the app can be deleted to free storage space on your device.

How long before I can swing again?

After the app has displayed data for a swing, you can begin the next swing immediately (normally less than 2 seconds for swing data to be displayed). Audible tones are produced to indicated swing captured as well.

Do I need a WiFi connection to access the App on my phone?

Your device will need WiFi or Cellular Data to create and log into your account, but once logged in, just a Bluetooth connection is required to pull real time data to the app.

Do I need to have a phone or tablet to view my swing data?

Yes, using the free, downloadable app that will track your swing metrics and performance data continuously to provide you with all of you performance history using the sensor.

Can I view my data on a mac or pc?

Currently, you can not view swing metrics or performance data on the website, however we are working to develop that feature soon!

What phones/operating systems will the DuoTrac app be compatible with?

The Smash Pro Sports app is compatible with most models of iOS and Android devices.

Where can I download the app?

You can download the app from your device’s app store or scan the QR code on the included quick start guide.

How much does the SMASH sensor weigh?

The Smash sensor weighs 6 grams.

Is the battery rechargeable, and what is the battery life?

Yes! The sensors have a rechargeable Lithium battery, which gives you approximately 6 hours of continuous use.

Will I ever have to replace the battery in the Smash Baseball Sensor?

NO!

SMASH Troubleshooting

Why isn't my swing being captured?

Your swing may not be captured if the swing was too slow to be recognized as an actual swing or your swing is a bunt. Also insure that the sensor is connected via Bluetooth to the app and the sensor lights indicate the sensor is on.

My sensor doesn't connect to the app. What should I do?

If the sensor does not connect to your mobile device please conduct a hard rest by using the reset pin provided with your package. Insert the pin into the charging port for 2 seconds and release. The LED lights will blink 3 times indicating a successful rest.

Will the sensor capture swings if I receive a call, lock the device, minimize, or launch another application while playing?

The app does not work in the background, so to pull real time data through the app, the app will need to be in use. If the app screen is not visible on the device, it will not pull data. The sensor can be used if not connected to the app and the swing data captured can be uploaded to the app once re-connected to the app.

I can't log into my account. What should I do?

Insure that you have Wifi or cellular data connection to your device. Close the app and re-launch after you have insured data connection and try again. If you still can not log in, you can attempt to create a new user account or contact Smash Pro Sports customer service.

How do you complete a firmware update?

Before updating your sensor, please ensure that your battery level is more than 50% charged and the device is connected to the "Smash Baseball" app. Then tap the "Device icon" in the top right and click "Upgrade Firmware". If there is a new firmware, the APP will prompt you. When all three indicator lights are on and not flashing (do not connect to USB charge cord) the firmware is updating.

Smash products are available worldwide. We have a flat shipping rate for all Smash products in the U.S.A of 10.00 USD, and for all international products 20.00 USD.

What will international Duties cost me?

International duties and taxes maybe incurred upon shipment of SMASH products, if certain countries tax limits have been exceeded. Custom duties are imposed on goods transported across international borders, to help protect countries economy, products, and jobs. In addition to an import duty, our product may be subject to other taxes such as sales tax (VAT, GST, etc.), excise duty, or other customs charges. Each country has its own set of taxes, and different ways of calculating them.
